I am a textile artist living in Co. Kilkenny, born in Berlin. I have been practising feltmaking and textile art since 2006. Over the years I have been exhibiting my work in group exhibitions and exhibitions run by CCoI, including ‘Open selection Eigse Carlow’ 2008, ‘Breaking Out’ 2008, RDS Prize winners exhibition 2010,‘Seascapes’ 2011, ‘21st Century Icons 2011
I have given craft projects in feltmaking to children in a primary school setting and workshops in Galleries. I have also worked with women’s groups and in community based projects organised by Kilkenny Arts Office. The projects would have included the making of felt collages , pictures and accessories using diverse fibres, fabrics and recycled materials. Other projects involved the making of 3D objects, with an emphasis on texture and experimentation, aiming for full exploration of personal approach and creativity. I have given demonstrations at craft fairs in Ireland and abroad.
Visual art including representational and contemporary approaches. History, Geography and English; explaining location, materials, background of felt production, depictions of local history, storytelling and poetry.
I find that working with textiles, feltmaking can be suitable for any age group, while more complex techniques would be more suitable for 7- 11, older age groups and adults.
